Extreme Exposure
For very hard, dense bricks used in situations of extreme exposure, a 1:1/4:3 (cement:lime:sand) mix should be used, but with the richer cement mixes consideration must be given to possible shrinkage of the joint leading to hairline cracking at the brick mortar.
