ClickBrick
The Easy to use cladding system
Daas Baksteen developed this product to make ceramic wall cladding easier and more accessible for the Building and Construction industry, without the need for wet trades. The system consists of easy to lay ceramic brick elements which can be easy applied without the normal skills associated with traditional Bricklayers following basic elementary training.
Buildability
ClickBrick® provides a fully fired, highly durable, individual led ceramic unit façade completely devoid of conventional mortar joints that would be associated with traditional brickwork. The ceramic units combine as one to act as a brick rain screen walling system. The resulting finish is clean, sharp and dynamic, primarily due to the lack of wet trades used in the erection of the façade with the exception of the "kicker" course which is essential in providing the foundation off of which the ClickBrick® rises quickly. The result is a clean sharp, modern looking wall without the visual and sometimes unsightly mortar joints that can impair the aesthetic requirement of the walling and generally account for approximately 15-20% of the surface in regular brickwork.
Daas ClickBrick®
The system consists of individually fired clay units that are post fired engineered and specially calibrated to provide grooved bricks that are connected to one another and the substrate by means of Stainless steel clips. The clips are designed to hold the individual elements together with the "Dry" stacked wall being tied back and supported by means of Stainless steel wall ties (4/m2) which connect it to the supporting inner leaf of the construction. The positioning of these wall ties being aided by a unique template which ensures correct positioning of the fixings. The system has been uniquely designed to be simple, easy but highly effective as an alternative to conventional walling and has available to complement both the ease of construction and design capabilities a range of supporting units, such as corner bricks, lintel support bricks, headed bricks etc. The speed of construction with ClickBrick® is far greater than conventional brickwork and is not restricted to the usual laying restrictions associated with bricks and mortar. Daas ClickBrick® is produced in a variety of standard colours and textures.
Maintenance
Providing ClickBrick® is used in accordance with our general instructions the finished walling and facade will be maintenance free. Like conventional external Clay brickwork, ClickBrick® will age naturally without the concerns of repointing the brickwork. In addition the inherent ventilation created by the system, prevents any build up of moisture. Due to the absence of mortared joints there is no efflorescence or staining of the finished brickwork that is sometimes associated with conventional Brickwork systems.
Sustainable Development with high Environmental focus
Each day more and more emphasis is placed on the environmental impact of building products and their sustainability. The Daas ClickBrick® system was developed with just these in mind. It is the first brick system which truly allows you to reuse the bricks almost completely after its first use without the impact on the local environment that traditional demolition brings with it. Even in the first application the system is more environmentally friendly than regular brickwork due to the slimmer wall (90 mm wide rather than 102.5 mm) and the almost complete lack of the use of mortar in both laying the product and pointing up.
Advantages
• After several years of experience with our system. Contractors, developers and architects recognise the following advantages:
• Increased speed of construction
• Zero efflorescence
• Enhanced aesthetics
• Completely or entirely reusable
• Larger units
• Clean or unsoiled construction site
• Less time lost due to frost and rain
• Dry and clean method of erection or building
• Zero pointing up of the façade
• Less demanding and strenuous on the workforce
• Minimal wastage on the site
• Zero maintenance
• Requires less skilled craftsmanship
